TACOS PUNTA CABRAS
Address: 2311 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90404
Taco’s Punta Cabras is one of those mystery, ambiguous, hole-in-the-wall destinations that LA is famous for. From the outside you have no clue what you are in for. Is it just going to be another dingy, mediocre joint that lives up to its appearance and you regret going to? OR Will it be that special diamond in the rough that we constantly seek out in the never-ending abyss of strip malls?
Well let me tell ya Taco’s Punta Cabras is by far the best fish taco joint on the westside of LA. I live two blocks up the street and I find myself going here time and time again. Not only is everything moderately priced, but the taco’s are without a doubt the best fish tacos I have ever had.
The second you walk in you feel like you stepped into a time warp back to the 1970’s when surfer culture on the westside was at it’s height. From sublime and good soul music, to down-right rock n’ roll… this place is a all-around perfection.
Grub: I personally love the shrimp taco’s as well as the good ol’ classic fish taco. All the ingredients are seasonal and fresh. The secret to what makes these taco’s so delicious is the salsa and slaw— all made in-house and incredibly delicious.
- Shrimp Tacos
- Fish Tacos
- Scallop Tostadas
Sips: They do not stop at the taco’s. All the drinks are unique and equally as tasty. As seen in the picture above, my absolute favorite is their Arnold Palmer with Chai Seeds.
- Arnold Palmer with Chai Seeds
- House-made Agua Fresca
- Coconut water… served in a coconut!
Insider tip: be sure to ask if there are special’s that day. Often times they will not announce or post the specials… one time I got luck with a monk fish taco topped with truffle asparagus. Truffle Asparagus aside, this is truly a simple taco joint… you will not find that many “out there” options. I also highly recommend their scallop tostada and shrimp cocktail.
P.S: If you are gluten-free they accommodate, yes they are that nice.
